Liverpool to Leeds charity bike ride in aid of Longshaw Kids Fund
On Saturday 14th July at 4.30am, James Burrows of North West Projects accompanied by friends Dave Kendrick and Rob Parkinson all set off from Liverpool Canal on a 127 mile charity Bike Ride in aid of Longshaw Kids Fund.
Having set off at the crack of dawn, all three cyclists were ready for a gruelling ride ahead of them! It was obvious to the riders this was going to be a very long day, which became clear when they made various stops along the way consisting of pies, ice creams and the odd drink to quench their thirst!
On the 127 mile journey, they were very lucky to only experience 1 puncture, but the highlight of the day for all (maybe not Dave) was the view of Dave falling spectacularly off his bike and landing in the Canal at Burscough – unfortunately however, this was missed off camera much to everyone’s annoyance and Dave’s delight!
With the sponsorship that each of the cyclists received, upmost in their minds was the reason they were doing it. LongShaw Kids Fund was founded in 2010 by a group of parents and friends who wished to help profoundly disabled children in Ormskirk and Chorley. They also support the work of the respite centres they attend. Donna Nicholson from Lomgshaw Kids fund, personally thanked James, Mark and Rob for the £1000 that they raised. Donna also would like to thank North West Projects as almost half of the money raised was by the company and colleagues of James.
James, Dave and Rob would like to thank North West Project, their colleagues, friends and family for all their support and donations to help raise this money for a worthwhile charity.
